Tatyana Yan was born in Moscow in 1965.
In 1987 she graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute (workshop of Dmitry Bisti).

Her first creative works were made using etching and lithography techniques, and she also participated in exhibitions as a graphic artist. Since 1995, she has been actively exhibiting paintings. Since then, Tatyana Yan has had more than thirty personal exhibitions, and she has participated in more than eighty group exhibitions in Russia and Europe.
In addition to easel painting, the artist works in stage projects: in 2001 she was the artist for the Taganka Theatre production “Socrates / Oracle”, directed by Yuri Lyubimov; in 2004 she painted a large painting cycle “Seven Words of the Savior on the Cross” for a musical performance to the music of Joseph Haydn (performed by Opus Posth, Tatyana Grindenko).
Tatyana Yan also works as a graphic designer, each of her books is a conceptual project with a unique authorial graphic series: "De Vita Sua" by St. Gregory the Theologian, 2011, Greco-Latin Cabinet; the two-volume "Gardens" by Olga Sedakova / Philippe Jacotey, 2014, "Art-Volkhonka; "Song of Songs and the Book of Ruth" (not published). She has also designed the following books: the album "Natalia Glebova", 2010; "Circle: Contemporary Art of Dagestan", 2001; Vladimir Yakovlev. Catalogue, 1996, etc.
In 2005, Tatyana Yan was awarded the Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts for her series of works “The Path to Cappadocia”.
The works are in MOMMA, the corporate collection of ABN-bank, numerous private collections in Russia, the USA, France, Germany, Sweden, China and Taiwan..
